There is no question that Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact does not get talked about nearly as much as the Street Fighter II series despite being more superior in terms of gameplay. The mid 90вЂ™s was like another peak period for the SF Franklin following the success of the Street Fighter II series from вЂ91-вЂ94. It should also be noted that along with Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact Capcom had also released its first fully 3D installment within the series known as Street Fighter EX in 1996.

Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was eventually ported to Dreamcast between late вЂ99 and mid вЂ00 in Japan and America while skipping the PS1 console. In terms of gameplay, graphics and soundtrack Capcom has never made another Street Fighter game that remotely resembled SFIII: 2nd Impact aside from the 3rd Strike title. Even though, Street Fighter Alpha 3 from вЂ98 had a bigger roster of characters and arguably better gameplay mechanics Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was unlike anything else that Capcom had managed to produce within the SF series. Seeing Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact on the CP System III during the late 90вЂ™s was incredible because it felt like the peak of 2D gaming.ДЄlong with titles like X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom from вЂ96-вЂ99 Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was probably one of the best 2D fighting games of the late 90вЂ™s. During gameplay players could perform special moves, Super Combo, Guard Breaks and Super Cancels during combat which was slightly more advanced than some people expected. Gill from Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact is arguably the hardest boss in the entire series especially with his ability to resurrect himself after being defeated. Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact also saw the introduction of new main antagonist names Gill who was the leader of the Secret Society. We also got to see the introduction of several new characters in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact including Alex, Sean, Hugo, Elena, Ibuki, Yun, Yang and Oro. There were so many things about Street Fighter: 2nd Impact that stood out in comparison to previous games within the SF series including more advanced characters sprites. Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was released about a year after the critically acclaimed Street Fighter Alpha 2 title from 1996. Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was released in arcade centers in вЂ97 before we eventually got an updated version of the game in вЂ99 entitled Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact was considered to be one of most memorable installments within CapcomвЂ™s SF series because of how different it was from its predecessors.
